Fondness: how much he enjoys their company.
Trust: how much he'll let down his guard around them.
Tension: how much he fears it'll go wrong.

Arthur
John's beacon of humanity, even during his eons in Hell. Haunts John's every moment in his stolen body.
Jack
Jack is an unwilling monster, and exceptionally kind. He cares for John when John's body is injured, and speaks gently to him when he's uncertain. This may be John's first and dearest friend after Arthur.
Serph
Apparently Serph has a monstrous second form, but one he keeps control over. Indeed, John has rarely met a human (for surely Serph is human) so reserved and certain. Serph has sworn to protect John from the horrors of the world. No one but Arthur has ever thought him worth protecting.
Faith
He watched her snap a monster's neck with her bare hands, and John is waiting to be next.
Levi
This boy recognizes the King in John, and that's the sort of information which will ruin everything once it spreads. If only he had a clean opportunity for murder.
Akechi
This young man claims that he once had a god bound to his soul. John will tread carefully around those conversations.
Blake
She attacked him, nearly killed his body, and... by all logic, John should have killed her to remove that threat. But she's like Jack: an unwilling monster. And her music is beautiful.
Viktor
This man is clearly mad. Grief has warped him into a monster, willing to corrupt body and mind in pursuit of his goals. John knows this sort, and cannot trust him.
